Position summary

The Community Programs Coordinator supports the Education and Outreach Committee of SoundBio Lab in developing partnerships and delivering community programs, workshops, and public events. The role focuses on coordinating logistics, managing communications, and supporting accessible educational opportunities that connect community members with hands on experiences in science and biotechnology.

The position provides organizational and administrative support for public workshops and lab skills courses, and helps build and maintain partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and community groups.

This role is shaped by grant funded program requirements and requires strong organization, follow through, and documentation across activities. Prior experience in life sciences or education is not required, but interest in both areas and the ability to support structured program delivery are important.


Responsibilities

  • Plan and support delivery of community programs, workshops, and outreach events

  • Recruit and train volunteers to support hands on activities and demonstrations

  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners

  • Manage participant and partner communications

  • Coordinate with the Lab Operations Manager on scheduling, space, and program needs

  • Support development and delivery of educational programming

  • Track attendance, feedback, and basic program data for reporting

  • Manage tasks independently and follow through on responsibilities


Role Details

  • Approximately 40 hours per month

  • Predominantly in person in Seattle, with some remote flexibility

  • Regular attendance at the U District lab and partner sites required

  • 90 day probationary period


Compensation

  • $25.00 per hour

  • Flexible scheduling with accountability for deliverables


Qualifications

Required

  • Strong communication skills

  • Experience supporting events, programs, or volunteers

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow through independently

  • Ability to travel locally

Desired

  • Experience in collaborative environments

  • Familiarity with Asana or similar tools

  • Interest in science education or community programming
