11.27.26 - Biosensors Community Project Meeting
11.27.26 - Biosensors Community Project Meeting
Harnessing the POWER OF LIGHT for environmental monitoring!
We’re back, and we are shifting to a biweekly schedule!
Join us as we explore bioluminescent organisms as biosensors to detect heavy metals and contaminants. During our sessions, we design experiments, share insights, and translate natural biotechnology into accessible toolkits for our community. Whether you want to gather qualitative observations, take on a deeper hands-on role, or are simply fascinated by bioluminescence, drop by SoundBio Lab to get involved!
With our restart, we are also launching exciting new subprojects:
Dark Viewing Box Assembly
Planktoscope & Bioreactors
Fungal 3D Printing
Exploring Genetic Engineering Possibilities
As these subprojects mature, several opportunities will open for new or regular members to step up and take on more responsibility. This is an excellent way for high school students and undergraduates interested in scientific careers to gain valuable hands-on research and management experience! If you're interested in leading one of these efforts, let us know at a meeting or email us at info@sound.bio for more information.
Event Details:
Cost: Free to attend
Age Requirement: Ages 12 and up
As a SoundBio Lab member, you can also participate outside of our public sessions. Learn more about membership HERE!
Funded in part by a Public Participation Grant from the Washington State Department of Ecology.
