In this Intro to PCR workshop, you'll learn how to amplify DNA and visualize the results using two of the most fundamental techniques in modern molecular biology. We'll begin by exploring the structure and function of DNA, then set up a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to turn a single DNA molecule into billions of copies. Finally, we'll use gel electrophoresis to separate the DNA fragments by size and see the results firsthand.

Open to ages 12 and up. Beginners welcome — no prior scientific experience required!
