Our world is littered with microbial life, and this is especially true for soil. From the phytoplankton in the oceans to the bacteria in your gut to the mycorrhizae that form connections between plants in a forest, it is not an overstatement to say that we wouldn’t be alive without them.
In this FREE, 3-hour workshop, you will learn about the various types of microbes in soil, the role of microbes in maintaining soil health and function, and how to extract microbial DNA from soil as the first step to exploring soil microbial diversity.
This session is Wednesday, June 17, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.
YOU WILL
Identify the major groups of microbes and how they differ from each other
Extract DNA from soil
Amplify barcoding DNA using PCR
