Local Lab Tour: Allen Institute!

  • Allen Institute 615 Westlake Avenue Seattle, WA United States (map)

Please join us for a tour and lab activity at the Allen Institute on Tuesday October 6th, 3-5pm!

We will be given a guided tour of the Allen building, learning directly from local research scientists and educators working at the front lines of discovery using large-scale bioscience. The tour will be followed by a hands-on lab activity “Spying on Neurons” where you will have the opportunity to learn about electrophysiology and how your own nerves talk to your muscle cells using an electromyograph (EMG). Please wear lab-appropriate attire on the day of the trip (long pants, closed-toe shoes, and hair ties for long hair).

This tour and activity are most suited for those aged 12-adult and will be free, with costs refunded for those who do attend. Parking validation at the Allen Institute garage will be available if needed.

All participants must sign a permission form (complete during registration).

Please register for tickets here and become a member here. Fee waivers are available if the cost is prohibitive. You can apply for a fee waiver via this form. Questions? Email workshops@sound.bio.
