Join SoundBio Lab and the Seattle Practical Philosophy Club for a tour of the Kaushansky Lab at the Seattle Children’s Research institute. The Kaushansky Lab seeks a cure for malaria, a global vector-borne disease that causes more than 600,000 deaths annually.
As part of this tour, we will see the mosquito insectary, a highly controlled biosafety facility where mosquitos are grown for research and testing.
Registration: Pre-register through this form by midnight on Saturday, Nov 7. The tour is limited to 14 participants, so there is a chance you may be waitlisted. If more than 14 people sign up, attendees will be selected by lottery. We will finalize the tour attendees and communicate your registration status between Nov 9-10.
Restrictions: You must be 18 or older to join this tour. Photo ID is required for visitor check-in.
No Late Arrivals Accommodated: The start time of this event is 5:40 pm with a 10 min grace period. Per SCRI policy, visitors must be escorted by staff at all times. If you arrive after the grace period, our group may have already left the lobby.
Cost: This tour is free, with a $5 refundable deposit from participants to confirm registration. Deposits will be refunded to those who attend.
